Mission & Philosophy

The Jamison Library contributes to the achievement of the mission and goals of the Seminary by serving curricular and information needs of the faculty, students, and staff in accordance with the mission of the seminary.

Commitment to the doctrinal position and philosophy of education of Southern Evangelical Seminary is central to Library operations. A biblical worldview relating creation, daily living, and higher education under the authority of Christ establishes the vision of Library facilities, services, and direction. The Bible, as God's revelation to humankind and normative for Christian life and thought is key to collection development.

Goals & Objectives

- The Library shall exercise creative planning, organization, control, and evaluation to ensure the fulfillment of the purposes of the Library.
- The Library shall recruit, train, and develop personnel with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to meet the information needs of Library patrons.
- The Library shall provide resources which support the curriculum of the Seminary, promote the values and the aims of the Seminary, and support the research needs of the Seminary community in a variety of formats.
- The Library shall provide a range of services including reference instruction, circulation services, remote access to the Library catalog, links to electronic databases, and maintain adequate Library hours.
- The Library shall seek to maintain effective communication with its patrons, supporters, Seminary personnel, and other libraries.
- The Library shall provide physical facilities, equipment, and environment which are conducive for study and research.
